"You have a gift. You deal with dark things every day. Be careful it doesn't hurt the people around you."

Elliot Wykoff is a visual artist and empathic retired psychic who was correlated to the murders committed by his caregiver William Hollister and appeared in Into the Abyss in Profiler.

Background[]

"Diane! DIANE!!!"

Elliot Wykoff was once married to a woman named Diane and a renowed consultant who used his empathic, psychic abilities to help with solving crimes, from murders to abductions and everything in between, including saving William Hollister's life after he was abducted. He even wrote books, and Hollister became his editor. Once the turmoil and trauma became too much to bear, he quit his profession, and Hollister became his caregiver. He started to paint, and he kept many works in his house, including a painting foreshadowing his potential "descent into the abyss", which he spoke about in another book he was preparing to write.

Into the Abyss[]

Wykoff's clients being murdered one by one led to the Violent Crimes Task Force to find him hiding in his closet in a fetal position. He wakes up and starts screaming Diane's name, sensing the fact she was murdered some time before. He's brought to the VCTF headquarters, where he explains how being an empath has led to him sense the worst evils to Waters. He then senses how she loved to solve puzzles with her mother, which is how she saw her job until Jack of All Trades. He then says she has a gift and that she needs to be careful or it'll kill her, consoling her when she starts to cry. Hollister later calls a lawyer to anonymously have Wykoff sent home, and Waters visits him later after his release from protective custody. She brings him items regarding Jack and asks him to get a reading. The stress and pain he endures causes him to break down, leading to Hollister, who was in the house all along, to show himself and insist Waters leave. Realizing Hollister's the killer, she insists he come with her, causing Hollister to make Wykoff panic, saying she's taking Hollister away. She then calls for backup, followed by Hollister pulling out a gun. Wykoff, realizing he killed Diane and overwhelmed by the situation, freezes up and goes mute while Hollister pleads him not to leave. After Hollister is taken into custody, Wykoff is institutionalized for catatonia, reflecting the painting that foreshadowed his "descent into the abyss".
